amavisd stops after reload

Usually caused by unreadable files specified somewhere in amavisd.conf.
For example, these always get me:

  @virus_lovers_maps = ( read_hash("/etc/postfix/maps/rfc_addresses") );
  @spam_lovers_maps = ( read_hash("/etc/postfix/maps/rfc_addresses") );
