<div dir="ltr"><div>So how are we supposed to install this thing?</div><div>I've used amavisd-new for 20 years, and we sitting on 2.12.x we have this nice little INSTALL file that makes it ultra fast and painless be you installing new or upgrading, the latter was so simple cp /certain-files-here/ /usr/local/sbin restart postfix , and away we go.<br></div><div><br></div><div>You have nuked the simple plain install file, there is no instructions on how to install it, oh theres some crud that looks like it was written by a 12yo in readme that says run dzil - WTF is that? there is NO mention of this in any release notes, there is something in readme that says it tracks software... what ever the hell thats supposed to mean, cant even tell what file that dzil is supposed to read if it has a control file.</div><div>I want to know where it is putting things, are binaries going to same place as always have /usr/local/sbin..there are now a bunch of perl lib files in the distro, where do they go, in other words I want to know if my people are going to destroy a working mail server until they cna undo whatever mess this creates.<br></div><div><br></div><div> come on if you are going to sieze control of software thats well used, well known and understood, and then basically make it your own, how about some good DOCUMENTATION and keep it simple - not this clusterfuck thats in that tar.gz file. (seems you did this from 2.13 perhaps that why we never upgraded to it)</div><div> <br></div><div>perusing other files it looks more like its written for debian, hey, no problem there, if amavis is now only for debian thats fine, just tell us and we can migrate to rspamd, but what youve done here, is not good enough.</div><div><br></div><div></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Fri, Jul 11, 2025 at 11:36 PM Damian <<a href="mailto:amavis@arcsin.de">amavis@arcsin.de</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><u></u>
