Random restarts SOLVED

Thanks to Patrick's suggestion, I searched other log files and in /var/log/messages I found extra entries saying that systemctl timed out trying to start amavisd.
I then noticed  that /usr/lib/systemd/system/amavisd.service had /run/amavisd.pid while /etc/amavis/amavisd.conf 
had /var/amavis/amavisd.pid.
Matching these fixed the problem
