I was able to resolve the issue by changing $MYHOME to /var/lib/amavishome in /etc/amavisd.conf and moving everything from /var/amavis/ /var/lib/amavishome/.
The only other issue I had was when trying to release a banned email with amavisd-release, I would get this error:
Can't connect to UNIX socket /var/amavis/amavisd.sock: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/amavisd-release line 271.
I was able to resolve it by changing line 90 of amavisd-release. It was still pointing $socketname to /var/amavis/amavisd.sock instead of /var/lib/amavishome/amavisd.sock.
If everything has been moved from /var/amavis/ to /var/lib/amavishome/ could a change be made to all the upstream config files and scripts so they use the new /var/lib/amavishome/ folder please?
Just one last grumble/question. What was the impetus behind moving everything from /var/amavis/ to /var/lib/amavishome/?
