What do I put in conf to enable logging in mail.log

In amavis configure:

$do_syslog = 1;
$syslog_facility = 'mail';

This will make amavis send log messages to the syslog service.
Usually that also means these messages will also show up in out mail log file.
If not check the syslog service configuration and figure out where it send
messages to mail.* to.
