Continual amavisd restarts

Since updating to Fedora 21 I have noticed that amavisd continually restarts; 
apparently whenever an email comes or goes.

Sometimes, it takes so long to start that outgoing emails fail to leave and 
have to be resent.

Is there some way that I can change this behaviour so that amavisd behaves 
like a regular daemon (as it used to before F21)?

(Is it something to do with systemctl?)
