The default locale (hope this is the right config file?!) did not change:
root at gate1:~# cat /etc/default/locale
# File generated by update-locale
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
root at gate2:~# cat /etc/default/locale
# File generated by update-locale
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
gate1 now runs on wheezy.
