It seems you are right. I noticed in the headers of the banned message:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20130308
Thunderbird/17.0.4
while my test from Windows:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:17.0) Gecko/20130307 Thunderbird/17.0.4
did not have this problem.
Exactly as the bug report describes.
Today TB updated to 17.0.5 - I hope they fixed it in the new version.
