amavis fails to reconnect database server

Mark,

whenever I need to restart my database service (Postgres) amavis will
permanently stop to work if it had to connect to the database server while it
was away. Only if I restart amavis too it will pick up work again.

I think amavis should detect when the database service comes back again and
should carry on with its job.

Have you ever encountered this before?
